This is a very good school. A good group of students and a very dedicated teacher. Reasonably priced for the area. Definitely worth checking out!
I’ve been training at Beverly Hills jiu-jitsu for more than 15 years. They are very professional and it’s a safe place where you will learn a lot and won’t get hurt. Master Marcus started his journey as a Judo black belt in Brazil while studying physical education at university in Rio de Janeiro. He has been a Coral belt in jiu-jitsu for two years now. Both my kids trained at bhjjc and now they’re working after finishing college. You won’t find any place better to learn the art and have your kids grow with discipline and self confidence.
Marcus and Sasha are so professional, kind and patient. My son adore them and can’t wait to go to the class every week. I’m so grateful for the way they teach him. They meant to be mentors and work with kids!! Highly recommend them and if you love your kid you should absolutely sign them
First time ever trying jujitsu and I’m hooked. Marcos is very experienced, kind, but stern when he needs to be haven’t been here enough to give a full review, but my first experience is five stars.
I recently had the chance to visit BHJJC while coming down from San Francisco, and I must say, the experience was unparalleled. After researching various nearby gyms, I found BHJJC to be the best fit for my needs, as they offered the most classes, sometimes even twice a day. Some of their classes are tailored for beginners, some only for higher belts, and others are for all levels which made each class feel different thanks to the variety. The head coach, Marcus, who holds the impressive rank of a Coral belt (7th degree black belt), provided world-class instruction that focused on intricate details and control. I was equally thrilled with the classes led by a Russian coach named Sasha, whose sense of humor made learning new techniques memorable. What stood out to me was the affordability of the daily rate and the convenient option of gi rental. I managed to attend 5 classes and wish I had stayed longer so I could train more. The fellow students at BHJJC were very friendly and fun to roll and drill with, adding to the overall positive vibe of the gym. The contrasting yet complementary styles of Marcus and Sasha, along with the variety in class structure and the wonderful camaraderie among the students, provided a diverse and enriching experience.
My son LOVES jiu jitsu at Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsy Club! He started at the age of 4 and has learned a lot about discipline, controlling his impulses, and putting forth your best effort. Additionally, it’s helping him be assertive and getting him comfortable with the physical contact necessary for jiu jitsu, and other sports, like soccer and basketball. It’s great for his developing mind-set and can-do attitude. And very reasonably priced.
We signed our 6 1/2 year old up for Jui Jitsu for both the exercise and the discipline. He loves it! Marcus is amazing - firm, yet patient. He is great with both young and older kids and is able to work with different skill levels simultaneously. And he doesn’t let them mess around and holds them accountable - something my son needed. Highly recommend.
Great place for kids. The staff and master are very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great jiu jitsu club to bring your kids. Good environment and very welcoming.
My son began training here a couple of months ago and it has been a pleasure watching his confidence and skill proficiency grow each class. Marcus is a skilled instructor who understands how to motivate and teach kids of all ages. The staff are polite, responsive and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend BHJCC to anyone looking for a warm place for their child to learn Jiu Jitsu.
I decided to try jiu jitsu to learn how to defend myself. I used Class Pass to find a few gyms near me. Of all the gyms I went to, Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club was by far the best. I was given a trial class that taught me about what jiu jitsu is. Other places just had me do whatever everyone else was doing without any context. It was kind of obscure and weird. At BH JJ Club, the instructor showed me foundational and introductory techniques that illustrated what jiu jitsu was. I learned the difference between other martial arts forms and jiu jitsu. I also learned the difference between sport jiu hitsu and jiu jitsu for self defense. I left BHJJ Club with a thorough understanding of what jiu jitsu is and I am so glad I came here.
I dropped in to BH JJ Club to try the class and I was instantly hooked. Great instructor who saws obviously passionate about the sport. The other students were very friendly and the gym was clean. Can’t wait to start training consistently.
Best Jiu-Jitsu club in California
My 3 yo son started training here this past summer. Marcus and all the other assistants are wonderful with the kids. Would highly recommend.
I've been to a few jiu jitsu gyms around town and the Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club is the best I’ve been to. I've learned to love jiujitsu here. Marcus is extremely dedicated to the improvement of his students. Everyone is friendly and are really great training partners. The membership price is extremely affordable compared to other places and the level of instruction is unmatched. I’m happy I was able to settle on this gym. It’s a great place for growth. They also have amazing kids classes and my older girl goes there too.
Professor Marcus' knowledge of old school jiujitsu and its application to ongoing evolution is simply amazing for both sport and self-defense. A true gem. If you're new and interested, realize that this journey can only fueled be by a professor and team who look to make you stronger on the mats and in life.
I always try and do a drop in whenever I visit Cali. Marcus is an encyclopedia when it comes to jiu jitsu and will help people reach their goals, whether it’s to lose weight, learn a skill, or be a world champion. The instruction is top notch and if you attend a comp training class, be ready to work.
Marcus and the BHJJC have been a true source of joy for our family. Marcus has been training our three sons for many years and has given them an impressive skill set. He has also instilled confidence in them by teaching them how to win and how to lose. More than that, Marcus also reinforces values we believe in: discipline, respect, the importance of doing well in school and strong family values. We are so thankful to Marcus for being an incredible role model and an adult our children can respect. The love and respect Marcus has for Jiu Jitsu shines through in the way he teaches. Our boys are obsessed!
Marcus is an amazing teacher. My boys have been doing jiu jitsu for a years now and have learned so much. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great discipline for their kids - Marcus works them out and makes it fun while doing it.
Several years ago I tried out all of the Los Angeles Jiu Jitsu gyms that were available on class pass, BHJJC was hands down the best experience. Great instruction (Marcus Vinicius is an incredible professor), well-structured classes, lots of good training partners, and very reasonable membership. After a couple classes, I cancelled class pass and joined. You will not regret trying out BHJJC, great jiu jitsu and great people!
I shopped around and gym-hopped for a few months while deciding on a gym to call home. I came into BHJJC and I've been training here for about 3 years now. I highly recommend checking them out, for anyone wanting to start or continue training jiu jistu. Marcus and the fellow instructors are not only extremely knowledgeable and detail oriented, but they are all very patient, dedicated, and kind. One of my favorite things about this gym is how family oriented the vibe is. The students thus far have created and atmosphere that allows us to learn from one another without any Egos present. I've never been allowed to feel overwhelmed or unwelcomed ! As a student of, and visitor to, many gyms, i can truly say this is one of the best training atmospheres I've ever experienced !
I had the honor to train with Marcus for a couple of months. This is the best school I've ever trained at, and the level of instruction and professionalism is high. Everyone was very welcoming and treated me as if I was part of their team. I still frequently think about this place as it was one of the greatest jiu-jitsu experiences I've ever had
I started training at the BH Jiu Jitsu Club a few months ago and it’s been an amazing experience. I’ve always wanted to train jiu jitsu but just never found the right place to do it. Thankfully my friend and I found the BHJJC. Before I started training here, I went to a couple different gyms, but none of them were as welcoming as Marcus’ BHJJC. Good reviews attracted me to the gym, but the ambiance, cleanliness, and Marcus’ passion for the sport are what made me stayed. Everybody I’ve met at BHJJC has been respectful. The classes start and end formally and we always bow to each other prior to sparring. At the end of class, we shake hands with everyone. I’m glad to be learning from one of the best and most experienced instructors in the city.
I’ve trained at BHJJC for years and it has always been a very welcoming environment. Marcus and everyone else there have always motivated me to improve. What I like most about the gym is the camaraderie and the fact that Marcus learns all of his students’ strengths and weaknesses and give very detailed instruction on how to improve. Happy to call this place my home.
Great class and atmosphere that welcomes learning from the beginners level through to black belt. Marcus provides training to address physical wellness and fitness embedded within jiujitsu techniques
Beat place I’ve been to. Been coming here for over two years. Great people to train with. Amazing instructors
This is the best place to train! Top-level instruction from an experienced 6th degree jiu jitsu black belt and judo black belt. Unlike other jiu jitsu schools, you'll be learning a lot of judo and takedowns here. As a hobbyist practitioner, I have been intimidated by other jiu jitsu schools, but the environment at the Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu club is immediately welcoming and friendly. Joining as a new member, I was treated like I’ve been part of the family for years. I got a uniform with my membership and an awesome gi bag too. Highly recommend!
Our Six years old been training jiujitsu with Markus for two years, and loves it, Markus is Amazing with the kids, he is also the real deal when it gets to jiujitsu. Highly recommended!!
I've been training at the Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club for about 3 years. The gym is like a second home to me. My commute there takes about an hour one-way. The long and inconvenient commute time is so worth it though because I get high quality instruction that doesn’t exist at gyms closer to my house. The prices are extremely competitive too and you won’t find a better deal anywhere else in the area. Marcus really cares about your progress and there are higher belts that are always willing to help lower belts. Jiu Jitsu is great for mental health and physical health. I am glad to be a part of the BHJJC.
I started training here 7 years ago and have been training consistently since. Marcus and Vinny have treated me with the utmost respect. I have always felt welcomed with open arms. There is so much talent on the mats. Overall this school has a reputation of high quality training, and Marcus teaches every single class ensuring top-tier instructors with proven techniques. There is a reason that this academy has been open for as long as it has and I’m honored to be a part of the family.
My first foray into grappling arts as a martial artist started here, and I absolutely love it! From a quality perspective, the sessions are run like a class rather than a gym; formal instruction with strong focus on merit based advancement. Clear weekly curriculum that is separated by level (Beginner/Intermediate, Advanced) with a very big focus on foundational techniques to help bring all of the many jiu-jitsu puzzle pieces together. Small classes allow for close, personal instruction. Also, the kids/teens classes are run smoothly with SAFETY being the top priority. Kids/teens classes aren't just about learning techniques, but how to treat others respectfully regardless of their background. Professor Marcus hardly ever misses a class (he runs all of them personally), and is dedicated to his students and community to being the very best version of themselves. His degree in Physical Education gives parents a sense of relief, safety, and trust on how to help minors develop in a positive way.
This is the absolutely best place to learn Jiu-Jitsu and get in great shape! Top-notch instruction from a world-class teacher like Marcus who has 50+ years of experience. If you are looking for a fun way to get in shape while learning a valuable skill look no further!
I’ve trained jiu jitsu at a lot of schools. The Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club is one of the best places I’ve been. Marcus is detail-oriented and a true master of his craft. He fixed some major holes in my fundamentals and I can’t thank him enough. He also helped me get competition ready several times. There are some tough upper belts there and training is always great. If you want a gym to call home, look no further.
We love this place! After searching for the right martial arts academy - this place felt like home from day one. It’s amazing to watch how your kids grow and progress continuously. The growth is tremendous.
This place is awesome! My 4 year old son has been coming for about 4 months and absolutely loves it. The classes not only teach jiu jitsu technique, but also how to be disciplined, take turns and overall team player. The staff is great and Marcus in particular is highly experienced and has a fun loving personality that the kids enjoy. Highly recommend!
The BHJJC is an awesome place to train. I was hesitant to start grappling, but Marcus helped me feel more comfortable. My safety was Marcus’ number one priority and he didn’t let me start sparring until I was well-versed in fundamental techniques. The fact that there are beginner-only classes makes training less intimidating. I’m glad to be surrounded by other newbies because I am more comfortable.
The Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club has given me a way to learn how to defend myself while exercising. Through my training, I have grown more confident in my ability to defend myself should the situation arise. Marcus is an amazing instructor and I am glad to be a part of this gym.
My sons and I have been training here for a few years. Marcus offers great classes for kids and adults. I am so happy we joined up. We are in great hands.
The Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club is a hidden gem in a city that’s highly saturated with jiu jitsu gyms. The head instructor, Marcus, has decades of experience and a detail-oriented approach to teaching. He is dedicated to his students’ improvement and always gives 100% on the mat. Unlike other gyms that have lower belts teach classes, Marcus never misses a day. If you want to start training jiu jitsu, this is the place to be as you will become well-rounded in both stand-up and ground fighting. Unlike other gyms that teach overly complicated techniques to beginners, Marcus starts with fundamentals. Additionally, instead of learning a new technique every day (as most gyms do), Marcus teaches a “technique of the week” that is built upon throughout the week incorporating counter-attacks, defenses, and other options. Every class is optimized for the skill level of students. Marcus breaks the class up and varies the complexity of what he teaches based on your knowledge and ability. Marcus learns the strengths and weaknesses of each of his students and also offers one-on-one training to help build weaker areas of your game. All-in-all, BHJJC is an amazing place to train and you instantly become part of a family.
Did a couple sessions here. Awesome place. They guy at the front named Sina was super friendly.
Amazing CLASSSSS!!!! I would highly recommend it to any one. Im a beginner level with no martial arts background but I felt empowered and broke a sweat. IT WAS FUN
Amazing instructors. Vinny was teaching the class today and even though I was visiting from another school (Fight Sports Miami), he still took the time to sit with me and review things. All throughout the class I felt like someone was watching over me and helping me improve and feel welcome. If this is the way they treat their students, they are in great hands. I'll be visiting one more day in the 7am class with head instructor Marcus, I met him a few days ago and he invited me to try the GI class. He knew my teacher and seemed very welcoming. Good people just have good energy and I look forward to his class as well. Now I just have to convince my wife to let me go 😂.
Was here for 2 weeks, took private classes with the boss. Very satisfied with the results... The ambiance was very smooth.
My brother trains, and I started coming here over the summer bc I wanted a challenge and needed to unwind from studying for the CA bar. Marcus and Vinny provided personalized, top quality training from the first day. They very much challenge you, while still providing a positive and rewarding environment. These guys, their gym, and everyone that trains there, are all great.
Training here for over 2 years, 5x week. Marcus and Vinny are amazing instructors who really have a heart for teaching and helping their students improve. The school has many competitors (multi Pan and Worlds champs) but is still accessible to recreational players. At least 4x week you will find, in addition to the instructors, black belts on the mat, many of which are 3 degree or above. The class are well organized with proper warm-up, technique drilling and sparing. The instructors curate and monitor the sparing so you don't have worry about dangerous matchups. I have trained at several schools in the area and this is by far the best. They may not have the cache' of the other associations but you will not find a better school in the city.
