  My 4 year old attends the little kids class and is really enjoying it, half of the class focusing on coordination and games, the second half learning grabs and holds. Trying out safe physical play that many young children need The main instructor hits the right balance between strict discipline when the children are messing around and humour/enthusiasm. Lessons are paced correctly for the age group, short and snappy The class has a really inclusive feel with children from the next age group on hand to partner with and help the little ones.

  I’ve trained BJJ for 4 years and I trained at Battalion jiu jitsu academy while I was in New Plymouth for a week. Even though I was a stranger coming from another gym, everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The coaching was top notch and I learnt a few new tips and tricks. There’s some sharp keen white belts and technical strong senior grades. A good mix of jitsukas sparing is intense but absolutely no malice or egos. This academy is one of the best I’ve trained in. I 100% recommend it and will be coming back next time I’m in New Plymouth.
