Barum is more than a Jiu-Jitsu studio, they treat everyone like family. My kids have been going for over a year and I’m always impressed at how patient, kind, and caring their instructors are. They command the respect and attention of all the kids with firm compassion when needed and provide a learning environment that’s fun, safe, and welcoming for students of all ages and skills. Their new facility is massive and such an awesome place for anyone to learn. For a such a physical sport, there’s never a shortage of smiles and camaraderie. Highly recommend Barum for anyone looking for the best combination of skilled instruction, fun, and friendliness!

Very new to jiu jitsu but professor Barum and many others have helped improve my game so much in a short period of time. Really cool gym, everyone is willing to help which makes it such a nice environment to come train and get better.

Great place, very technical. I went for Open Matt and they were very welcoming and accepting. There was a lot of experience in the room, I'm talking decades. Everybody was really nice and I'll definitely go back.

One of best jj schools not only in the area but worldwide. Trained all over the usa and abroad. Alfredo is a true Brazilian and positive influence on everyone in that school. Each person is welcoming and a safe environment to learn and sharpen your skills. You won't find a better place to train for a all around experience.

The best place in the world, where I started my journey in jiu jitsu as a white belt and prof Alfredo and Grazi never left my side, couldn't be more grateful. Thank you a lot barum family 🙌🏽

My son has found a fantastic place to learn Jiu Jitsu ! The coaches and professors are not only skilled but also caring and patient. And the emphasis on respect is truly admirable. It's great that you feel like part of the family there too.

Great people, great atmosphere. Alfredo’s a very funny, but mellow guy and sets a great tone for the gym. Awesome jiu jitsu too. Wake up early and come to the 6am class!

Barum Jiu-Jitsu is amazing. From Day 1, everyone welcomes you like family. Alfredo creates an environment for learning and training for both competitors and hobbyists. The instructors have years of experience and the training partners are awesome! I highly recommend Barum to anyone interested in BJJ.

Barum is one of a kind. They are so welcoming and loving. The facility is located in a naturally secure and well maintained campus. The instruction is amazing and the feeling at the academy is super nice, like the feeling you used to get on saturday mornings when you were a kid. The owner Alfredo and his wife Graziela run this academy like a Jiu Jitsu Academy deserves. The kids classes are super fun, safe, technical and motivating. The 6am class is filled with skill and diversity. The daytime classes are very challenging and skillfully delivered. The night classes make sure you fall asleep like a baby when the day is done. I would recommend this home to ANYONE who wants to: 1. Start Learning or Training the Gentle Art of Jiu Jitsu 2. Start looking to get back in from a break 3. Seeking their perfect craft skill and game perfection 4. Veterans that are looking for a long term and fruitful Jiu Jitsu career 5. Competitors seeking a home to expose their art on the mat to a very diverse and deeply skilled community thus enabling them to sow on fertile ground. This place is great.

I have taken my two daughter many different places in San Diego for lessons of different kinds. This is THE place if you have kids. Their adult classes seem great also, but I have not tried them. Barum Jiu-Jitsu really is amazing. It it combines a caring atmosphere with great training. Look no further.

I've been training here since March after being off the mats for almost 4 years and I am very fortunate to have made this decision. Alfredo is a great instructor who conveys his passion and positive attitude on a daily basis. Everyone knows that the attitude of the dojo is a reflection of the instructor. Barum Jiu-jitsu is my home away from home where I can roll at 6am, noon or at 6pm everyday. Classes will have multiple black belts attending. You can train hard or just roll, no one will come off with your arm or foot. I'm 40 years old with a wife, 2 kids and have a client facing job. Thankfully I have Barum Jiu-jitsu to look forward when I need me time. Also, best open mat on Sundays in San Diego.

Amazing gym. Unparalleled instruction by Alfredo Barum. Multiple classes everyday. Lots of students, but never too many where you don't get personal attention from a black belt. Multiple black belts visit, train and teach so you get all kinds of styles. Low price, and never is there a market push like Gracie Barra. I lost 40 lbs in the first 6 months training here. There are hundreds of jiu jitsu gyms in San Diego. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been training here for a while and can say that Alfredo is one of the kindest human beings I have met. He is just good people! He is an excellent instructor and motivator! I can honestly say that if it wasn't for him, I'd probably weigh an extra 30 lbs and be miserable!
