I've been training at Autore for nearly two years now, and while my journey has had its share of ups and downs, particularly with injuries, each time I step onto the mats, I am genuinely reminded of how special this place is. The academy has a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s a beautiful gym, open in space, almost like a work of art, where I can fully immerse myself in Jiu-Jitsu and refine my skills. It's located in Brentwood, and it's a very safe place to train. Although I live on the other side of the city and it takes me an hour to get there, the journey is always worthwhile. Throughout my time here, I’ve been fortunate to connect with the Fonseca brothers, who have played a vital role in my growth, not just as a practitioner but as an individual. Their coaching, along with the meaningful style of jiu-jitsu shared between them, has truly helped me push my creativity in my game. Getting to have two coaches gives you perspective and style. The environment within the academy is incredible. Everyone is better than me. It was a heartfelt moment when I was introduced to Autore by someone who was special and changed my life. It was her that made me want to become better in the Gi. A surprise turned into a moment marked by a turning point in my Jiu-Jitsu journey, transforming it for the better. I am profoundly grateful for this place. I will continue to train here until my next journey. Always Forward.

What a great place to train! The owners are great and are very thorough when they teach. Also very helpful by walking around and helping during drilling. They have so many ladies to train with and everyone was so welcoming for the two months I visited while in LA. With both morning and evening classes, I was able to get a lot of training in while there.

Stopped in to train for the week while travelling, and I loved every minute of it. The gym's vibe was super welcoming and fun, but the jiu jitsu was still high level and high energy -- full of kind killers. And Professor Gustavo is the man. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Did one day and really loved it! Gustavo was a really nice guy and the instructor/people were super welcoming. Location is a little inconvenient with the parking but a short 5 min walk was nothing. Great spot and I look forward to hopefully coming back in the future!

If you are wondering about self defense, wanting to learn a detailed martial art or looking to elevate your current jiu jitsu skills, this is your place. The curriculum, the learning experience, the attention to detail Gustavo and Lex have are unmatched. They have had many great teachers in their past and they bring those teachings together in their gym. This is a very good academy to train,learn and grow your Jiu Jitsu :) definitely recommend to all. Also they have a great kids program!

Had a great time at Autore! Alexis is a great instructor who took the time to make sure us students understood the move we were working on, on top of just being very nice and welcoming. I train down in San Diego, but everyone was very welcoming during my drop in class. I highly recommend Autore for travelers and long term students alike, I will be back!

5 stars without a doubt !!! Black belt Professors Gu and Lex have created a really special bjj gym at Autore. World class, modern instruction in an atmosphere that’s equal parts friendly and competitive. Their new location in Brentwood is a beautiful, clean facility with lots of mat space. For top notch Jiu Jitsu in west la, look no further, Autore is the the place to be !!

Just a visitor passing through town. Didn't know much about Autore or it's lineage until after the fact. Been training jiujitsu for almost 8 years, and I can be honest with myself, I'm not a quick learner. I require many repetitions and an annoying amount of questions to the teacher about who, what, when, how, and why. I spent three days at Autore and attended several classes per day in the gi, and No gi (which I'm terrible at.) Professor Gustavo emphasized his approach teaching Brazilian Jiujitsu that was digestible to the student. He is able to articulate and demonstrate concisely. I left adding jiujitsu techniques that I use and execute in live rounds! Come check this place out. Thank you Coaches!

Gustavo & Alexis are great. The environment they cultivate is very welcoming & encouraging. As someone in their mid 30’s, it can be a little tough formally learning my first martial art. With the community at Autore though I am always excited to come in, and also get fomo when I don’t LOL

So stoked to find my new jiu jitsu home in LA! The Fonseca brothers come from a long and prestigious lineage of jiu jitsu, but more importantly: they’re kind, welcoming, and passionate about the art. I tried a couple other places in the area before signing up here, and this place is on an entire different level in terms of technique and instruction. The spot is in a super nice part of town, the mats and gym is extremely clean (and new!), and parking is decent. If you’re an adult, definitely come on by! If you have kids, they’ll definitely learn and apply the skills/discipline they learn here into their lives.

Professors Gu and Lex are awesome. This academy has grown so much in regards to membership, student abilities, and building a great feel that really reflects their (Gu and Lex’s) unique and positive vibes. Been lucky to have these guys as part of my journey. If you want high-level technique, great vibes/positive energy, and top quality instruction in the LA area…check out Autore. Can’t recommend them enough.

This gym is truly a gem here in LA. It's a great gym with an amazing culture, friendly training partners, and top-notch coaches/instructors. Coach Gustavo and Alexis honestly make you feel welcome from the second you walk in and make learning BJJ super accessible, engaging, and technical! 10/10 recommend you check it out if you're in the area or looking for somewhere to train!

I’m fairly new to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and started attending classes here almost 4 months ago. I know how intimidating it can be to start, but professors Gustavo and Alexis are very welcoming and knowledgeable. Not only that but the students here are also very supportive and encouraging, and I’m happy to say that I’ve made a lot of great new friends here! The weekday 6pm class works well for my schedule, but I appreciate how they also teach at a few other times (I still haven’t been able to wake up early enough for the 6am class lol).

The brothers (Gustavo and Alexis) are great, and the gym has a very good energy. You can feel it right as you walk in. One of my favorite I have ever trained at. Low-key but intense, with, for anyone interested, fast-paced sparring rounds to really get reps in with a bunch of different teammates.

Autore is truly an amazing place! You get world class instructions and a friendly, supportive environment. Professors Gustavo and Alexis are passionate and dedicated to teaching students of all ages and abilities and you feel it. My son competes in jiu jitsu and Gustavo and Alexis were some of his first instructors. They give 100% positive vibes, incredible instruction, and sincere encouragement to help you reach your jiu jitsu goals!

Very friendly teaching Professors and world-class instruction. I believe this would be a great place for both adults and kids. Very clean and professional looking environment! Well structured classes that both beginners and experienced individuals can thrive and learn. They do an great job of making everything easy to understand and they do take the time to get to know their students. If you’re looking for a great community that also teaches great Jiu Jitsu, I think you will really like it there. I think it would be worth your time even if you’re just thinking about starting!

Autore is a gym that you go out of your way to train at. It's not just that Alexis and Gustavo are World Champs or that they are insanely technical instructors. It's not just that they take the time to give personal feedback on your jiujitsu or that they have the class structure dialed. It's that this gym is a positive place that welcomes everyone. I have never had a bad day here. Clean gym, with amazing instructors and a good crew of people. What else could you want?

First off I love training here with Professors Gustavo & Alexis. When I first arrived they were so welcoming and humble that I felt right at home from the beginning. They are very modest because although they are WORLD CHAMPIONS, they don’t flaunt it, or even bring it up. The technique and class vibes are always amazing, I always learn something new to add to my game. They are very passionate about teaching clean techniques and helping any student without hesitation. All my training partners are cool people who want to learn bjj without any egos. Lastly, the mats are always clean, they have cupboards for students’ belongings during class, and the brick walls give a good aesthetic.

Come visit Autore. Experience a class for a day and you won't be disappointed. Alexis and Gustavo have competed all over and have trained in the most competitive schools. More important than their respective resumes, they make you feel at home immediately. Their ability to breakdown techniques seamlessly makes everyone in the room, regardless of skill level, able to learn and take something away. If you have been contemplating the "right time" to start jiu jitsu - this is it.

Gustavo and Alexis, the head instructors at Autore, have cultivated a great learning environment for their students. Their instruction is very technical, detailed, and they know how to organize the structure of each class so we get the most out of our time. They are very attentive of all of their students and give feedback from live rounds, which I personally think is critical when looking for a good gym. The training environment is also very welcoming, supportive, and is great whether you are a beginner or have more experience. The class schedule also offers a lot of flexibility with 6AM, 11AM, and 6PM classes throughout the week making it easy to find a time to train. I highly recommend Autore for people of all experience levels (and ages, because there are kids classes!).

Been training here since May 2020, The Fonseca brothers are the real deal. They create a comfortable , clean and professional environment and everyone that comes in also brings the same good energy. No ego just solid Jiu-Jitsu and great with kids as well. Highly recommended for those trying out Jiu-Jitsu and those needing a place to up their game 🙏🏼

Great instruction, professors, and vibes… Wether you are new to jiu-jitsu or have been rolling for years, you will find Autore Bjj to be a great fit. The mats are also cleaned vigorously after every class (which is a pet leave of mine) and all the students were very welcoming. I leave class with a big smile on my face every time. Great way to start or end the day.

Great gym for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professors Gustavo and Alexis are both excellent instructors--they're incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about teaching/helping their students. There's a fairly wide range of students here (in terms of experience, goals, styles, etc.) but everyone is welcoming and supportive and the environment feels very safe. I highly recommend giving Autore a visit if you're looking for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym in the area!

Very welcoming and technical school led by Black belt Fonseca brothers sharing their passion for the Art. What makes this gym unique is that both brothers (Gustavo and Alexus) have actually competed and Won Gold multiple times In prestigious tournaments. Through those experiences they share certain escape positions and techniques to evolve your jiu jitsu journey. Having a 6am class and also 6pm noon class available all week. Come check them out .

I have never trained Brazilian Jitjitsu and I have completed 3 classes in Autore BJJ so far. It has been an amazing experience. Not only are you taught by amazing instructors but it is a community where everyone teaches eachother. If you are starting out or have experience in training in Brazilian Jitjitsu, I reccomend training here.
