We've been going to Alavanca for years. The coaches are fantastic and the facility is clean and welcoming. Kids classes have been amazing for building coordination and body awarness, self confidence, focus and self-esteem. We've compared many other gyms and this is by far the best. Suitable for all skill levels.

Hey Alavanca Jiu-Jitsu Team, I just wanted to drop a note saying how awesome it's been to get back on the mats at your gym after 10 years away. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and supportive, making it easy for me to jump right back into rolling. It’s clear you all are not just strong players but great people too. The facility is top-notch – clean, well-organized, and those individual showers are a huge plus. It’s great to train in such a well-maintained space. Big props to Coach Tim as well. Your techniques are spot on, your demos are clear, and your coaching style really brings out the best in us. It’s dope to learn from someone who not only knows his stuff but also walks the talk. Thanks for making my return to jiu-jitsu so smooth and motivating. Excited to keep training and growing with you all.

The classes at Alavanca are top notch, whether jujitsu, kickboxing or mma. I do kickboxing prior to jujitsu for an optimum workout throughout the week, ... Sundays I'm all mma. Trust me folks, these are great workouts, they're advanced and technical. Hard work equals great rewards, and everybody here is super friendly (maximum respect). I consider this gym my family and one of the best martial arts studios I've trained at. ...See you on the mat!! Mike C

This was my second bjj gym. The first one I felt like I belong. Professor Tim is a personal friend now and I feel like I’ve made some life long connections here. The average attrition rate from white belt to blue is over 80% and blue to purple about the same. 8 out of 10 people I started with still so bjj, I think it’s because of how the fundamentals are built here and the culture. *I’ve also traveled a bit and never felt like I was drowning at other gym in Canada and internationally. * I would recommend anyone thinking of starting their journey here.

Great place to train! Been there off and on for about a year and feel welcomed every time I step into the gym. A few highlights: 1) first class coaching – Prof. Mike is awesome on the weekday beginner classes, takes his time thoroughly teaching a technique and ensures the class understands before moving onto the next, 2) wide variety of classes and times (morning, noon, and night for all levels!), and 3) excellent training partners who understand and adapt based on their partners ability. Awesome place to train, good community vibes, and a big thanks to all the coaches and Professor Tim!
