Never imagined how much my child would benefit from joining. It's given her a level of fitness (strength, endurance, flexibility), confidence, and discipline that I didn't even know she needed! Master Ray and Amanda are so kind and encouraging. The other students and parents are also so wonderful. We are so thankful to be a part of the AKYI family.

We took our daughter there few months ago for a trial lesson hoping she will like it. She LOVED it. and still does. ALL instructors are great! Thank you for great experience and being able to put FUN into discipline and respect.

I started almost ten years with master Ray and never looked back. He is the best teacher and really cares for his students and want them to succeeded in life not just inside the dojan but outside life as well. He consistently trying his hardest to help his students learn about taekwondo and themselves to be better person and treat others with respect. Provided great discipline to all his students and many life lesson. Everyone is very nice. He and his wife are very welcoming and they really safe with the COVID and not spreading it and have social distance. They also care about safety all times. The school overall been always improving and striving to keep helping everyone learn and respect each other and grow as a person. This school teaches great taekwondo technique and great for all ages. Highly recommend and best taekwondo school around.

I really like the convenience of AKYI martial arts - the schedule is flexible, no need to pick classes in advance, just show up when it’s convenient for you (due to the current COVID situation, they ask to sign up for a class that you will attend in the morning before the class, to control the number of ppl). The owners are super friendly and accommodating to the parents, while teaching discipline to the students. My 6yr old has been going to AKYI for a year and really likes it.

We found Akyi by luck when my son’s old taekwondo school closed. My Son loves this program so much! He goes almost every week day, and looks forward to class every single day. Mr. Ray and Amanda are great! Thank you for providing a safe and engaging school for my son!

Both Amanda & Master Ray are very caring and helpful. Kids love them as well as we do. They went far and beyond to assist us as parents to make sure that our son's Hybrid schedule could be accommodated as both of us are working parents. That place and values they provide are great for our son. We probably will enroll our daughter soon with her brother.

My son (he will turned 5 in August) starts class here about an month ago and he is enjoying the class more and more. We found AKYI from my colleague and her son just won the state champion. So I think if my son want to learn Taekwondo, it’s better to start from the right place.

We came here after trying Taekwondo at a different in Glenview for 2 years. Master Ray had been a wonderful teacher. He is not worried about appeasing parents. He does what is right and sincerely discipline kids.He does encourage them and stretch them to discover how much each kid is capable of.

AKYI martial arts is the best martial arts school I have ever been too. All the parents and the students are there to support and help you anytime. Master ray is an awesome, amazing,funny. I wouldn't ask for a better master. Also Mrs.Amanda is an amazing coach and she always has a way to me laugh.

Master Ray and Ms Amanda are wonderful, hard working people. Master Ray is very inspiring and the best coach who is an international referee and is very knowledgeable about all the rules of taekwondo. My son has a great time and looks forward to going there everyday.

AKYI is a fantastic dojang. The price is what brought us to the gym, the staff is what keeps us there! The schedule is great, the dedication to providing correct technique and creating a fun, respectful environment and getting fit are always number one to Master Ray.

I've been attending AKYI Martial Arts for over 3 years now. The focus is on the students. From the basics of Taekwondo to more advanced techniques - Master Ray teaches with patience, safety, and care. It is a wonderful school and I could not be happier.

So incredibly proud of our son, now a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He has shown honesty, integrity, courtesy, & indomitable spirit to get to where he is today. But, most of all, he has shown amazing perseverance in seeking out a new & better school, all but starting over to get this high honor from a truly genuine, authentic school. Master Ray does absolute wonders with these kids, and it's not even his real job...he leaves work each day to teach these kids the REAL art of Martial Arts because he loves it & wants to share his love of it. He has not only taught Ricky what he knows, he has had to change many incorrect habits from his old school - not easy to do! The best part of the 9 1/4 hours of testing yesterday was when Ricky turned to me & said, "Mom, there are many more black belt degrees, this was just the first. I want them all. Can I skip tennis on Monday to start right away on the next one?"

After doing trials at 4 other places, my daughter chose to take taekwondo classes here. She absolutely loves it. Master Ray does a terrific job making the kids feel comfortable. I've seen my daughter excel in a short period of time due to a good teacher and a comforting environment.

My kids have been taking class with master Ray for around a year and 1/2. It has really changed their lives. They are more focused more disciplined and more flexiable. Master Ray is an amazing teacher. We had tried 3 other studios before him and he is the Best. He cares about each kid and helps them all in different ways. My daughter and son truly adore him and so do their grandparents: We give AKYI 4 stars plus. Akyi is a life changing experience everybody should have. Kathy

There are several martial arts schools in the area, but what I like about this school is how Master Ray incorporates teaching everyday values to the children through Tae Kwondo. Weather you send your kids to compete or just to build focus and confidence, all kids are represented equally and with pride. He makes sure all kids are taught to learn the right way.

I've been coming to AKYI Martial Arts, for close to 3 years. Master Ray is a great instructor who dedicates a lot of his time to students. It feels great to have somebody guide me, whether in TaeKwonDo, Hapkido or KickBoxing. My schedule does not allow me to come everyday, otherwise I would!... Thank you Master Ray, please keep up the good work!

Master Ray is a very skilled and knowledgeable instructor for students of all ages--the perfect mix of high expectations with kind encouragement. His kickboxing classes are a great workout but also teach useful self-defense moves. He is absolutely great with kids as well. Highly recommended.

AKYI Martial Arts is hands-down the best place to go! Mater Ray is an amazing teacher and very fun to be around. He is very involved and truly cares about everyone of his students. After leaving his class I feel more flexible, stronger, and more in shape. If you are looking to do any kind of Martial Arts or kicking boxing this is the best place to go.

If I was to summarize my experience at AKYI Martial Arts in one word it would be very difficult but I would probably say fun. Every time I go even if I have had a long day I always enjoy myself. Aside from it being very fun, it is always a very good workout, pushing me (and the whole class) to the limit. Master Ray is another reason for my liking of AKYI, he is very funny but when it comes to pushing you and getting to work he is very motivating. I highly recommend giving it a try, if you are thinking martial arts or kickboxing you can't go wrong. It is very different from any other sport I have ever done and for the best reasons!

AKYI Martial Arts is hands-down a wonderful place for both children and adults! As with most children, my 5 year-old daughter would often join a new activity, only to quickly lose interest...that is, until she met Master Ray. Both Master Ray and Mrs. Amanda truly love what they do, and this shows through the care and guidance they provide their students. I have never seen my daughter so connected and engaged in a sport in any field. With this new-found love for taekwondo comes a sense of pride and confidence from my little one -- priceless! Much thanks to the AKYI family!

If your looking for more than just another martial arts school, this is the place. Master Ray is not only one of the best teachers around the state but is also hands on, teaching every night….a very rare quality for someone of his rank. Truly a rare & one of a kind school for kids as well as adults of any age.
