When I signed my daughter up for private self-defense classes, I expected her to learn how to protect her head when/if she falls and what to do if someone grabs her arm, etc. But then the most unexpected change happened after only a few lessons with Damon - she jumped off the diving board @ the local pool for the first time, but it didn’t stop there. The fear that was stopping her from doing many things she wanted to do has been lifted. Damon put her in (practice) situations she’d never been in. Scary situations I hope she never experiences and he pushed her to limits I’ve never seen her pushed to (while being in a safe space). He taught her how to think to protect herself and they practiced and practiced and practiced again and again until she was taking him down to the ground. I’m a big believer in the 10,000 hour rule so I know that 8 hours into self-defense is just an intro, but it’s a start. I watched something unexpected and extraordinary happen to my kid - yes, she was taught self defense by the best (he really is the best) and I’m so thankful for that, but the self confidence boost that came with it and taking her anxiety level (about everything) down a few notches was absolutely priceless.

The absolute best place to learn practical fighting, traditional martial arts, and weapons. Sifu has a wealth of knowledge in striking, throwing, grappling, self defense, swords, knives, staves, and more. Highly recommend the Jeet Kune Do and Krabi krabong (Thai staff and double swords) classes. This is the place to come for occasional bruising and constant improvement

I have known Sifu Damon from the very beginning of his Academy of Jeet Kune Do Sciences. As a fellow instructor of martial arts, I have always highly respected his depth of knowledge, his skill as an instructor and his drive to learn and improve his art. I have learned much from his example. If you have an interest in Jeet Kune Do and self-defense, I can recommend him without hesitation. Damon's teaching is useful, practical and realistic. He has studied a number of martial arts and integrated what is useful. Having trained with him and his students, I know that they are adaptable and capable fighters. Check out what Damon has to offer, you won't regret it. The Academy of Jeet Kune Do Sciences is a local gem.

Sifu Evans is great with children. Our son has learned some real fighting skills. (Kicking, punching, blocking, falling) Nobody will ever pick on our son, as he won't hesitate to defend himself now. The class is fun, but it's hard work. When our son gets home, he's tired. It's nice to have a safe place to drop off our son, and go run some errands. There's even a big bench, to sit on, if we want to watch a few minutes of class at the end. We love Jeet Kune Do Sciences.

I became a world championship fighter as a teenager and fast forward when I wanted to get back into martial arts I wasn’t sure where to go in Sonoma County until I discovered Sifu Evans. He is not only knowledgeable in his skill set, but he also understands exactly how to train you from the basic learner to advanced. I trained with only the best and I consider him one of them.

Best Martial Arts place out their. You can’t go wrong if you want to learn real world skills and be able to defend yourself properly. This is the place to go. I literally am driving all the way from SF, that’s how good this place is.

I’ve been training martial arts for many years, that includes training with firearms, different styles of martial arts and different instructors/schools, so in the start of that journey, I used common sense and logic in that perspectives, without any real training knowledge or skills to compare with but to what I knew and what I wanted it took 3-4 years to figure it out. The most important aspects in training is to ASK QUESTIONS ! Don’t be afraid to question the instructor, question the question. Is the technique/move LOGICAL ? PRACTILCAL ? or REALISTIC ? Remember there’s NO set Conditions, NO RULES on how some bad people can attack, hurt, and try to kill you ! YOU have to make your own honest assessment on how your training is going, if you’re not getting the answers, respectively move on to another instructor/school. Train safe and have fun while training, Keep an open mind, there’s many other great styles of martial arts so don’t limit yourself. This is my opinion based on hands-on training, from private lessons, seminars, and visiting/checking out and training with other schools. There’s many different martial arts schools out there but handful of good ones and if you live within the neighborhood of Sifu Damon Evans The ACADEMY of JEET KUNE DO SCIENCE then you’ll be at the right place for LOGICAL, PRACTICAL, and REALISTIC training ! Remember martial arts training is a Endless Journey !

This is hands down the most practical application of self-defense I've ever come across. I didn't realize till I joined the school but everywhere else I was just training to hit pads hard. If you're looking for practical application then this is the place for you.

I took almost two years of private woman’s self defense lessons with Sifu Damon Evans at the AJKDS and learned so much. It was practical, progressive, and specialized training. He even took the time to work with the potential dangers I could face in my career as a massage therapist. I really appreciated his talks on situational awareness as our first line of defense, and instilling that we should be prepared but not paranoid. He was able to adapt our training routine when I became pregnant and we were able to safely continue my lessons throughout most of my pregnancy. Himself and his school hold such a wealth of knowledge and I consider what I learned there invaluable life skills. I highly recommend training with AJKDS.

Best place in the north bay to learn self defense, I highly recommend AJKDS to everyone of all ages, beginner or seasoned pro. You could search this globe 2 times around and you will never find anybody as competent or as knowledgeable as Damon Evans. He is always applying facts with common sense in everything he does. I will have to go on a Podcast or something to explain the 6 or 7 pages of information that I could give you to prove my point. Whether you want to learn self defense or be a prize fighter in a ring, you should go to Academy of JKD Sciences.

The best place to learn self defense. Sifu Damon is a one of a kind instructor. He has the patience to teach you the way of Jeet Kune Do and take you to the next level. Striking, Trapping, Grappling, knife fighting, stick fighting, Jiu Jitsu. The Academy of Jeet Kune Do Science, offers anything you can possibly think of. Sifu Damon has taught me so much. Its a tightly run dojo with a fantastic community built around it. Everyone is extremely helpful. To get the most out of it you have to be committed, just like anything in life, but the rewards and payoff that you will see in yourself as you progress are well worth it. Very real stuff is taught at this school. It's definitely not your "watered-down" type of martial arts. If you REALLY want to learn true martial arts, this is probably your best option as far as schools go. Many different styles/arts are available to learn. Classes will often leave you in a sweat an eager for more.

This school has it all! From equipment to variety in material, including regular seminars of various martial arts and artists from literally around the world. Sifu Damon Evans is certainly among the best in his practice, and is constantly learning/mastering material from various arts as a lifelong student of combat. Keep up the awesome work gentlemen!

I have always wanted to learn martial arts but I could never find the time. This school is awesome! It has multiple classes and hours available throughout the week and on Saturday. There are a variety of martial arts to learn, and the gym has a lot of equipment as well. I knew very little when I started and Sifu Damon Evans helps you fit right in at your skill level and helps you progress.

I've studied martial arts on and off since the 80s and taught professionally years ago. I have never found a school I enjoyed as much as this one. Sifu Damon was knowledgeable and orchestrated a fantastic class. The atmosphere was friendly and the equipment top notch. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did. Highly recommended

Excellent place to learn how to defend yourself. I took Karate for a bit and not really into the art form of doing kata's, etc. This Jeet Kune Do is more about learning how to fight and is more practical. I enjoy the school and highly recommend that anyone in Sonoma County looking for a place to study a martial art check this place out! Damon is a great teacher!
