Training at A Team has been an incredible experience. The coaches are exceptional--knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about helping every student improve. They break down techniques clearly and give personalized feedback to ensure you're always progressing. The teammates here are equally amazing. From day one, I've felt welcomed and supported. Everyone trains with respect, and higher belts are always happy to share tips and guidance. Rolling is both challenging and safe, with a great balance of competitiveness and camaraderie. If you're looking for a place to learn BJJ with outstanding coaches and a truly supportive team, A Team is the place to be!
I've been training at A-Team for a while now, and I honestly love it here. The atmosphere is always positive. Everyone is respectful and supportive, no matter your skill level. It's the perfect place to learn, get stronger, and be part of an amazing community. Highly recommend for anyone looking to train seriously or just have fun
I'm just getting into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and after looking at other gyms this one was the one I chose. I chose this gym because of how the coaches are great at explaining everything clearly and are actually there to teach you. It doesn't feel like just a class if that makes sense. I can see myself learning the most professionally here.
Looking for a Jitsu gym as I’m relocating to the area. Competition or fun, place is great. Great vibes.
I’ve started a while ago, and out of all the places I trained at this is the best one. The coaches are dedicated and focused on the students and that they understand the technique and ways they can improve it and incorporate it in a roll. 10/10 🤙👌
After a long hiatus decided needed BJJ back in my life. Came to check out A-team for their intro class. Quickly realized this is where I want to stay. Master Ali’s methodology as well as his dedication and passion for the art flows through to the rest of the team. Coach CJ, Dee and Luis are also highly skilled but more importantly great instructors as well. It’s no accident the students are constantly winning medals at tournaments. Even if your a causal practitioner like me, it’s important to learn the art the right way. Ateam style Osss
got a private lesson from luis , super cool guy was teaching me a lot of cool things so i ended up signing up for their 1 year plan , definitely the place to come to if you have no experience
This is hands down the best Jiu jitsu school in the country. I’ve trained for over 10+ years in half a dozen or more schools and I’ll tell you right now you won’t find anything like it anywhere else. Do not waste your time at these Ufc clout chasing gyms!!! Men like Master Ali and Coach CJ are a dying breed. As parents it is our job to surround our kids with the best human beings possible and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing bringing your kids here. As for the adult classes you couldn’t ask for a more supportive learning environment. A lot of the people have been here for 10+ years. There’s an open discussion at the end of every class that gives literally everyone a chance to be seen & heard. This review has been a long time coming. Keep up the great work fellas much love 👊🏼💯🇺🇸
I'm very happy that I found A Team back when I was looking for a new school, all the staff is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I moved from my homecountry just to be able to train at A Team on regular basis. Both Master Ali and Coach CJ have years and years of experience in the fight game and their teaching skills and knowledge are world class and they are hands down the best teachers I've ever had. If you want to learn bjj either for competition or just for fun, there's no better option than them. With a great environment to learn, amazing instructors, a nice facility.... A-Team Jiu Jitsu is the place to be!
Very happy with my choice of picking A team to to train at ,the knowledge that I am learning from the coaches on the mats and for off the mats is priceless. Definitely the school you want to be at if your looking to compete or just learn the sport.
Cool coaches 😎🤝. Only 3 weeks in🗿. But I am liking it and the environment is awesome.
Great team over here. I’m a BJJ hobbiest and really like the gym. It’s Very fun and competitive. Master Ali and coach CJ and coach Luis are great instructors. They give great detail and have created a friendly environment. Looking forward to growing in my jiu jitsu here.
My 2 boys ages 7 and 10 have been taking Jiu Jitsu at A-Team for about 5 months now. The coaches works hard to make this place the best of the best in OC. They spend a lot of time to ensure the kids are learning proper techniques. You can tell the coaches care about what they do and that they care about the kids. So far there has been no complaints from my boys. They love this place and we can see ourselves being part of the gym for many years to come. Thank you A-Team for being amazing!
I now believe everyone should learn some Jiu-Jitsu, doesn't matter how old you are. Just find a good place close and convenient to your home or work. If Westminster is one of those places then you are in luck as they are right off the 405, come check them out and tey out a class. I recently earned my Jiu-Jitsu 🥋 Black Belt from the world famous A-Team under Master Ali. Highly recommended 🤜 they should have an option for Ten ☆ stars 🌟
This is a family gym. Professor Ali, Coach CJ, Coach Angelo and Coach Luis have coached my family and myself at many tournaments. Ali impressed the importance of discipline, confidence, focus and school work in the kids class which helped to build confidence and the ability to defend themselves in my girls. They are thriving in school and life and I want to thank Master for Ali for all he has done for my family. I am grateful and thankful to be part of A-Team Jiu Jitsu. I would recommend this gym to anyone with kids to bring their family here!
Mi sobrinos y mi hijo le gusta practicar el jiu jitsu por la disciplina y un ejercicio y la buena amistad que encuentran con sus compañeros! .
My sister and I joined in April. We had no experience with martial arts but were looking for a great way to exercise and learn self defense at the same time. From the first day we stepped into our private lesson with coach Luis we were immediately met with smiles and a positive attitude. That same day we signed up for the whole year as we knew we would fit in with the rest of the class. Each lesson is broken down into steps that are easy to learn and retain. Master Ali always teaches us life lessons, real life scenarios, and makes us feel included in every class. Coach CJ and Luis are always willing to work with us if we don’t get a move correctly, they provide us with great feedback, and motivate us every single time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to learn martial arts and exercise!
There’s not enough good things I can say about A-Team so I’ll tell you about my favorite things about the school. Master Ali and all the coaches are very knowledgeable and always open to questions and breaking things down so you can understand a move or position. Whether you’re looking for self defense, competition training, or just trying to be healthy everything taught here covers all of those aspects. The biggest thing you’ll also notice is everyone’s willing to help everyone, and no one’s afraid to teach their technique or a move to make you better. The last thing I love is that the mats are always cleaned daily and the school is very big on hygiene to make sure no one misses time because of staph or ring.
A-Team comes highly recommended by family friends and I can see why. You can tell the coaches care about what they do. Excited to watch my boys and hopefully can eventually get myself on the mat as well.
My whole family comes here to train! I have been coming here for about a year now and I can confidently say that its the best decision I could have made. Amazing coaches and a great group of students. Being on the mat is one of my favorite places. The ultimate stress reliever and confidence booster. If you’re thinking about joining anywhere. Come check it out here. You won’t regret it.
Best gym in the area, professional instruction and a friendly learning environment.
I started BJJ mainly to learn self defense, also to challenge myself & test my ability to be uncomfortable. Luckily, I came across A-Team and tried the free private lesson. I had no martial arts experience so I was extremely nervous on my way to my first lesson. The nerves went away as soon as I stepped into the school because of how welcomed everyone made me feel. I signed up after the intro lesson and that was probably one of the best things I did for myself. The coaches are so helpful and patient. They will answer any questions you have and there is no such thing as a “dumb” question at A-Team. No one will ever make you feel bad or stupid for asking for help. Everyone at the school is just super kind and helpful! Not only do I learn to improve my BJJ game at A-Team; but I also learn to improve the relationship with myself by building my self esteem and confidence—just by being around empowering people and an empowering environment. A-Team is where it’s at !
The BEST place to learn Jiu Jitsu! They always have at least 3 blackbelts at each practice walking around, making sure everyone is learning the moves together correctly. My first day was a 1 on 1 lesson with Luis, he made me feel welcome and was very excited to welcome a new member to the team. Everyone here is passionate about this sport and loves doing what they do. They break down each move you're learning, step by step and they always answer questions to help you learn. They offer private lessons and some no gi classes as well. I've been here for 4 months and nobody is rude. Everyone is friendly and wants to help each other learn. A great environment with great coaching. 10/10
Great atmosphere with a great set of coaches, and amazing people. They make you feel at home when you first walk through the door.
My two sons have been attending A-Team academy for the past 18 months as a mom I wasn’t sure how I felt about jujitsu as a sport. However, A-team has shown me all the different aspects that jujitsu has to offer not only is it a great sport for the boys to get exercise, but it has reinforced discipline, respect, good sportsmanship, character and I can list many more positives. I want to thank the instructors because they care about the children as people and the want the best for them no only in the gym, but in life! Thank you A-team instructions for making us feel welcome and caring for my sons by teaching them great habits that will last them a lifetime. -Diana
Great studio, great instruction, and great students. Come in to learn JJ, be humbled, and respectful of the A Team Family.....they will reciprocate the same to you.... .God Bless
I was headed to OC from out of town on a work trip and really wanted to get my rolls in while away. As someone who has trained out of town frequently because of work, I was apprehensive because we all know some schools can be pretty aggressive and really don't take care of their guests. Got a recommendation to train here so I headed over and signed up! A-Team has been nothing but an amazing school. I was greeted with really hospitable coaches and signing up for classes was easy enough. Master Ali held great classes with incredible technical and practical information. I even decided to do a private with Professor CJ and that short session improved my game immensely with the gems he provided me. To keep it short and sweet, I've found my school for OC and I'll always be going here when I'm in town.
A-Team Jiu-Jitsu is a great place to train in BJJ. As a female who has trained not just as an adult but as a pre-teen and teenager under Master Ali, I highly recommend you try out a few free classes at A-Team. They are very family and detail oriented. I see so many fathers and sons training together. Mothers and Daughters training together. Couples training together. Everyone works together as a team to grow and improve. All of the coaches are patient and encourage questions. At the end of every class, we sit and the coach asks if anyone has any questions. They break details and concepts down to the simplest of steps and tinniest of details you never thought needed to be considered to improve your game. As a woman, I feel safe to train with any of the men of any size and rank. We are taught how to flow roll, which allows both students to practice techniques, not just smash and go hard all the time. Though once you feel more comfortable rolling and want to, for example: get ready for a tournament and train harder, they will put you with people that can push you. My Jiu-Jitsu journey started with Master Ali when I was 11 years old. I got my blue belt when I was 16. Unfortunately, when I was 18 life pulled me away from Jiu-Jitsu. Over a decade later at 29, my wife wanted to get into Jiu-Jitsu. She brought me back into the sport and back to my Jiu-Jitsu family. Now she is addicted. I joke its hard to get her off the mat now after class because she wants to continue to review and prefect whatever technique or concept she is working on that day. When I was younger Ali was able to keep things light and fun but also still very focused. In middle school and high school Jiu-Jitsu was my outlet. I didn’t do so well with school but on the mat I felt like I could actually learn something and achieve the goals I was reaching for. It taught me discipline and focus. I’m glad my parents decided to start me young. Later when guys would give me a hard time often times, I didn’t even have to do or say anything. My friends would just say something like “Hey you don’t want to mess with her. She knows Jiu-Jitsu!” They would scoff or whatever and walk away. There have been times someone grabbed my arm. I was able to break the grip, step back and create space. They get so surprised by me just being able to do that they backed off. I could go on with more examples… because of those experiences even off that mat, It is my opinion that every female should have at least a blue belt in jiu-jitsu.
I came to A team as a brown belt from a different school and quickly realized my technique was horribly lacking. With Master Ali and Coach CJ's instructions I was able to catch up gaining confidence in my Jiu Jitsu game. Master Ali and Coach CJ along with the other black belts are absolutely amazing coaches that push you to be the best. A lot of other schools are toxic and people walk around with inflated egos. Not here. It gets checked at the door. I love it and wish I came here years ago.
Amazing place to learn high quality Jiujitsu in a great clean environment. The coaches are astonishing and very knowledgeable and give amazing instruction. The gym has great teammates who you will like to be around. Both coaches and teammates help you grow your game. Inordinate positive energy. Very family friendly, feels like home.
My sisters and I have been training Jiu-Jitsu with Master Ali since we were kids (over 15+ years) and we absolutely love it. The environment is very family friendly and the training you get here is top tier compared to other schools! Not only will you learn Jiu-Jitsu but you will also walk away with a stronger and more confident mindset. Sign up now, you won't regret it!!
I just started here last week. Easily one of the best decisions I've ever made. Everyone's very friendly, talented, and very helpful.
I have been going to this school for about a month now and I really do recommend coming here. Master Ali is a really great individual at teaching ju jitsu, he has a lot of patients and really goes into details on how to do the techniques correctly. I have never done a sport like this before but I am happy that I came here to learn. This school has a family vibe to it and I come in everytime excited to train with Master Ali, coach ceejay and the other coaches. If you are interested in Ju jitsu this is the place to go. I really mean that.
Jiu jitsu was something I had been interested in for a while but I had always been nervous to join a gym or start jiu jitsu because subconsciously I convinced myself that it wasn’t for me. When I finally got the courage to go, I chose A-team as my first stop little, did I know this was going to be my only stop. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Coach CJ and as he walked me around the gym everyone was introducing themselves and welcoming me in. I signed up my first day. The training itself at jiu jitsu is top notch, they go through everything with such detail and always make sure to answer any question you have from the smallest detail to the largest. Master Ali is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to jiu jitsu but he also strives to teach his students to do everything as best as they can, have confidence in yourself, and to never give up. A-team isn’t just a gym, it’s a lifestyle and it’s family.
I love this dojo and team. Master Ali has been a Checkmat black belt for over a decade and runs the school the exact way today as he did when we first opened. From the 3-4 year olds to our 50+ year old students, everyone is welcomed and supported in their own bjj growth. I highly recommend this Sensei and the integrity of the school.
Unsure if your child will like Jiu Jitsu? Nervous about which gym is the best fit? I was there too. Try a free private lesson and class at A-team and you won't regret it. I've wanted my 8-year-old son to do Jiu Jitsu for years but he was always shy and timid about it. I've known about the stellar education the kids receive at A-team from three of my nieces that have been training here for years, and one day I simply decided to finally force my son to try it, haha :) Once we met with Coach CJ and took the free private lesson, I could tell my son felt immediately comfortable with him and was having a blast. After the first free introductory class, we immediately signed up for a membership and for the past 6 months, my son has been working harder than I've ever seen him work, and non-stop smiling through it all. My son asks to go every day and hates when we occasionally can't make it to class. As a pediatrician and father of 3 kids, I like to think that I know how to deal with children, but A-team probably deals with the kids way better than I ever could! Master Ali, Coach CJ and Coach Luis are the regular kids' coaches and they are amazing with them. I love their very DISCIPLINED yet FUN approach. The Jiu Jitsu education is meticulous. The kids classes are not dumbed down at all. There's so much attention to detail combined with regular sparring, so it's no surprise that the kids here do great at tournaments. The kids love sparring and competing so much that at a recent class, Master Ali announced they were doing a practice tournament that day and all the kids cheered! They groom some extremely competent and confident kids here. In addition to the Jiu Jitsu, Master Ali or Coach CJ regularly sit the kids down at the end of class to teach them life lessons, how to concentrate, how to be respectful, and how to deal with bullying. My son listens to everything they say, and quote them regularly at home. Starting my son in Jiu Jitsu at A-team has been the best life activity I could've done for him at this age, and I'm so glad I finally forced him to give it a try! :)
Great coaching, Great place to train! Coming here is easily one of the best decisions I have every made.
I found out about A-Team through my friend because he had been practicing Jiu Jitsu for a a couple of years. I always wanted to learn a martial arts but I always felt like I was too shy and would be intimidated stepping into gyms martial arts gyms. Until one day, my friend took me along to open mat and I immediately signed up right after because the environment was so friendly and welcoming. They really care about what they teach and understand this is something new for a lot of people. Master Ali, Coach CJ, Coach Ernie, and Coach Cody have been patient and understanding. They are excellent technical teachers. I have definitely learned a lot and feel like a stronger person physically and mentally and it has only been a couple of months. Other students are very friendly as well, so theres no need to be afraid to interact with others during training sessions. It is a very family-team oriented environment so everyone wants to help you grow into a better grappler and person. I would definitely recommend going here for the experience and affordability!
Absolutely fantastic school, with extremely knowledgeable instructors! Everyone at A team is super friendly and welcoming. I visited travelling from the UK and I would definitely come back here instead of going to a big gym, everyone was so helpful! If you're thinking of trying Jiu Jitsu this is the place to go!
This is by far the best school you could train at. No matter your level, you’re treated with respect and dignity throughout your entire Jiujitsu journey. I’ve trained at a lot of schools and I’ve never been in a better training environment than at A- Team Jiujitsu. P.S. CJ Is pretty cool.
Ive been training at A-team bjj for 10 years and highly recommend our school to everybody. Lots of black belts and white belts and everything in between. Train in the morning or night with about 10-11 different times each week with structured classes or open mat. Our coaches and Master Ali are so consistent teaching classes, which allows for easy growth no matter who is teaching the class. The kids team has about 50 trophies on the wall- enough said about that.
Where to start ? I came in extremely out of shape and not knowing the art of Jiu-Jitsu. Master Ali, Coach CJ, Coach Angelo and the whole A team were and have been graceful, patient, encouraging and etc... You’ll walk-in and immediately be welcomed and treated like family no matter where you are in your Jiu-Jitsu or health journey. This is definitely a home away from home and I have lost over 30lbs training here, but most importantly I have gained amazing friendships & fallen in love with Jiu-Jitsu. I recommend anyone and everyone to sign-up and make the investment to be pet of A-team.
I was referred to A-Team by a former coach of mine as I used to train a different Checkmat school but moved back home to OC recently. I've trained at 2-3 different BJJ/MMA gyms prior to settling in at A-Team and I can say I've had the best experience here by a long shot. Every person I've interacted with has been very humble and always looks to uplift each other so that we can grow and learn as a team. The gym and mats are always clean and Coach CJ and Master Ali are absolutely phenomenal instructors. They have a wide breadth of technical knowledge and an ability to break down complex techniques and concepts in an understandable way. I've been at this gym full time for about 13-14 months total and whether you're a beginner, hobbyist, competitor you will be given the tools you need to excel at whatever you choose so long as you put the work in.
If you are on a seach for a legit worldclass bjj journey A team is the place to be. Everyone from the black belts to the white belts are willing to share their knowledge. Overall A team keeps a clean and respectful environment.
I recently switched here after I moved to California from New Jersey and I have to say the first thing I noticed was that the coaches really care about their students. After most classes they make sure we leave with a great mentality. If you’re thinking of trying Jiu Jitsu or just relocating like me, COME IN. Everyone is super welcoming and if you take A-Team seriously ALL aspects of your life will improve.
By far the best jiu jitsu gym I’ve ever trained at, surrounded by the best coaches and teammates. Not only do coaches teach you world class techniques but they also focus on building a sharp mindset and confidence not only for jiu-jitsu but for everyday life. Everyday is a great day at A-team!
My experience so far at A-Team Jiu Jitsu is beyond amazing. I definitely fell in love with this sport after only 5 months of training. There is so much to learn and A-Team makes it fun while challenging. Master Ali, Coach CJ, and Coach Angelo are all fantastic coaches that are always willing to help. If you are interested I would recommend signing up for their 30 day free trial. Call or E-mail them to sign up!
This place is clean. The mat is always disinfected never left as a mess. The people are all very helpful if you’re coming in as a beginner. The feel is a family home feel so you don’t feel like you’re just there to train but feels like you’re just at home.
Top notch training studio for all ages. Excellent family atmosphere.
Ateam Jiu Jitsu is ran by Master Ali and assistant instructor Coach CJ. Master Ali is a CheckMat Black Belt under legend Leozinho Vieira. I'm pleased at how my kids are taught in a professional environment. We are grateful to be a part of the Ateam Family!
The staff and the other students are very nice. They treat u well. Also the place is clean.
Great academy. Great people. Great instruction. affordable rates. Top notch kids' program. Friendly-family environment. you will learn highly effective sport and self defense jiujitsu training at ATeam BJJ.
Our son has only been coming to the a-team in Westminster for a short time, but we highly recommend it for a few reasons. 1. The instruction is delivered in a successful way. The children are all listening, so my student is not distracted, & the instructors make sure the students "get it" fairly well before they let them go practice it. 2. There is a wide variety of sizes/skill levels among the students, so there are sure to be kids with whom your child can practice effectively. There are also different classes for different levels, which helps insure optimal learning for everyone. 3. They are competitively priced.
I was interested in learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a while and tried several academies around the Long Beach area. I knew after one class at A-Team that I had found my place. Master Ali and Coach CJ are both incredibly technical and detail oriented. All of the other students are very welcoming and friendly and help promote a very supportive vibe.
Awesome place to train. I did my homework before settling at A-Team. I checked out others schools before choosing this dojo. I feel my research paid off and I made the right decision training here.
Today marks our one year with Ali A-Team Jiu-Jitsu and what a year it has been! Master Ali and Coach Cj Herrera's teaching is exceptional. They don't just teaches the moves but how to apply them. Their passion for Jiu jitsu is evident through the countless hours spent sharing their knowledges with the students. Master Ali teaches his students to excel not only in Jiu Jitsu but in life as well. Our girls have shown immense growth on and off the mat. We have witnessed them taking on life's challenges with more confidence and courage. Our girls have represented A-Team on the podium to include a Worlds Championship after 4 months of training. Words cannot express the appreciation and love we have for Master Ali and Coach CJ for being an influential role model in the girls lives. Our gratitude also extends to Coach Angelo, Coach JP, Coach Aine Mirai Drury, teammates, and A-Team families for their support from Day 1! Jiu Jitsu is Life. A-Team Style! ❤️❤️❤️
There is no better place for kids jujitsu in Orange County PERIOD. My son is learning so much and he loves it.
Professor Ali was very accommodating and gracious. Watching him teach his kids and adults class, you can see how thorough and careful he is in explaining the fine details of his school's system. Definitely learned a few new concepts and I would highly encourage anyone who rolls to come by and try it out if you're in the area. Great "team" feeling throughout the class.
My son was invited to train at A-Team after he stopped playing club soccer. We have been with A-Team for about six months now and have found the instructors and the program to be superb. The families that train here are welcoming and supportive and the instructors do not tolerate poor behavior. Coach CJ, Coach Angelo, and Master Ali are all wonderful with the kids. They are patient and excellent at giving instruction - each move is explained and modeled step by step, re-modeled by the kids, they check for understanding, and then have the kids practice until proficient. They ensure there is plenty of sparring and fun built into the training. After having experienced years with club soccer, it was refreshing to see instruction based on proven learning techniques for children - something sorely lacking in SoCal soccer. And the instruction is not at the cost of competition, A-Team is consistently at the top of the podium during tournaments.
A-team Bjj is the best school for kids. My 2 daughters have been coached by 2 of the best instructors Master Ali and Coach CJ. They did not accidentally win 1st place team of the year. Best kids team in the world.
Coach CJ and Master Ali's program is different from every other jiu jitsu school I have had my daughter train at.(3 schools). They teach respect, discipline and how to be a leader and the kids enjoy it. The school also has a pretty even ratio of female to males who train here which is nice because schools are usually male dominant. I like that because my daughter is making friends that she wants to hang out with because they have jiu jitsu and the other girly things in common. The instructor of the class isn't the only teacher. The kids are taught to be able to teach the move they learn to each other. They are also told to go easy on new comers and help them progress to being able to spar. Its a nice family friendly environment and a team that's dedicated to be the best.
A-Team is the best! The coaches are great and everyone their is very helpful and all they want is for you to succeed and continue getting better. I have been going here for about 4 months and have learned so much.
Master Ali is an awesome coach and teacher. I have learned so much from him on and off the mat. Great techniques explained with precision detail and a wonderful environment to learn. Very thankful I found this place, every time I walk out the doors after training I am a better person.
A- Team is absolutely the best! I've been training here for over a year and have absolute faith in Master Ali's training, mindset, and teaching abilities. I was immediately taking in by how friendly everyone is and how willing they are to help better your jiu jitsu journey. Master Ali's knowledge of jiu jitsu is absolutely incredible; there is nothing that he hides from his students. He is very invested in the time he places in his students and focuses on how to improve and show everyone their absolute potential. They have a phenomenal kids team and are truly family oriented. The place is very well kept up and always clean. Whether your goal is to get fit or to learn to fight you'll gain that knowledge and confidence going to A-team.
Here in So Cal there are many good schools for Jiu Jitsu. My son has been training at A-Team Jiu Jitsu since April of 2012 under Checkmat Black Belt Ali Saleh. My son started BJJ at the age of 8 and now is 11 years old. Why choose A-Team Jiu Jitsu and not another school? Simple: Atmosphere: Learn and train at a place where your coaches and your fellow students want to see you succeed. Where else do the instructors tell you their desire and goal is to have you, the student, to one day pass them in ability and will share their knowledge to help you succeed in that goal? What Pressure? You want to learn Jiu Jitsu as martial art, health or just for fun; or a combination of each? Compete if you want or don’t compete, you will get the same attention to details. Your questions will be answered and if you need it demonstrated again, no problem. Adult Open Mat on Fridays and Saturdays. What other school allows kids of the school to practice extra if they want to at Open mat. For sure you can find many good Jiu Jitsu schools here in So Cal, but a good school that also has the intangibles of being a place where the adult students, kids program and parents of the kids thrive together for the common good of everyone, well, that is not easy to find, but you will find it here. If you have never taken Jiu Jitsu, you can try the class for free for 30 days. Break out your check list in what you are looking for and you will find that each one of those boxes will have a check next to them. Talk to the adults who came here after training elsewhere prior; watch how the kids treat their team members with respect. Watch as I have seen my son get a tiny micro bit better each time he trains and watch yourself or your child grow a tiny micro bit each time knowing not only are they learning Jiu Jitsu, you are learning in a place that will become your second home and see that sometimes family isn’t always related by blood. Family of people; they want to see you just as happy as they are to belong at A-Team without any hidden agendas. Again, you will find that here because the beginning white belt and the world champion are treated the same because the respect shown to each student by the coaches isn’t about how many medals you bring home, it isn’t about “hey look at me”, but it is about how much you enrich the lives of those around you as part of the school to learn and be part of the same goals of becoming a Black Belt and wanting your teammates to become one too.
I have had friends who where training with the Gracie's since the garage days. I also trained a few years at Royce's first gym. I then started bringing my son. Eventually the drive was taking a toll and had to find a place closer and with earlier hours. Then I found the A-team. WOW! Master Ali's program is amazing and you can't deny the facts. One of the smallest schools winning more competitions. I wouldn't have believed it without seeing it myself. The feeling of family and community the second you walk through the door. All of the parents, students, and staff are friendly. Another great thing about A-team is Master Ali promotes education and reading. If your grades are low no training.
This Jiu-jitsu studio has a traditional style to it. Almost feels like a small town church or something. The people their are Family and have at least one common thread ... love for Jiu-Jitsu! Its the best for great teaching and good Old fashion "Rolling" The guys that train are everything from surfers to sheriffs but most of us leave that normal life stuff at home. I feel lucky to have found a place like this to study Jiu -jitsu. I absolutely recommend it. . . to all ages!
A-team is the BEST Jiu Jitsu school and their records speak for itself. They continue to produce exceptionally great Jiu jitsu fighters at such a young age and these kids are regarded as the best among their peers. They might not have the quantity of students like other studios but they have QUALITY students who excel in the art of Jiu Jitsu. The staff of A-team have an enormous amount of passion for the sport of Jiu Jitsu with great emphasis to detail. They have truly transformed my daughter to a champion and they have provided her with great knowledge that would be beneficial to her well being. Thanks to Master Ali, Coach CJ, Coach Angelo and the rest of the staff of A-team. A-team is the home of the "most talented kids and coaches "in Jiu Jitsu and I highly recommend it to everyone. Myself and my 3 young sons train here. We had belonged to other gyms, but this is where we will stay long-term. Master Ali is the real deal. He is the best Jiu Jitsu instructor I have ever witnessed (with countless YouTube instructors included), and he has a real interest in seeing his students succeed both on and off the mats. For kids: The A-Team Kids Team tournament record and speaks for itself (ranked #1 many years in a row at various tournaments). Before joining, I was so impressed with how A-Team conducted themselves at a tournament which my kids participated in prior to us switching gyms. What a force to be reckoned with! They displayed: organization, professionalism, respect, sportsmanship, and incredibly dominant Jiu Jitsu. These qualities are instilled and reinforced into the fiber of each kid at every practice; both during "regular" class time as well as during mini-lectures at the end of class. A-Team kids are trained to be responsible for their actions, to be leaders, and to be honest. I am thankful my kids are involved in such a quality program that extends FAR beyond the mat. NOTE: A-Team Kids do about 3 or so big tournaments a year, and have beach, Halloween, and Christmas parties. This team is a team in the true sense of the word, which is great for my boys, as they have stopped playing organized "ball" sports, and use BJJ as their primary physical activity. For adults: Master Ali and Coach CJ are top notch and teach everybody how to become the best BJJ practitioners possible. Like the kids group, the adult group is so welcoming and friendly. Additionally, I don't think you could find a better group of training partners. There is no ego allowed, and all folks are willing to teach and encourage you, as the team gets better together.
I stopped shopping around for a good jiu jitsu school after my first trial class at A-Team. Sold! Why? The school has an incredibly comfortable and supportive atmosphere, which the coaches go to great lengths to promote. If the school had a central theme, it would definitely be "family." This is particularly evident in the dedication Ali Saleh, head coach, has to his kids, constantly striving to turn each and every one of them into a real champion. The mats are gorgeous, high quality, and clean. The gym does not have the notorious smell of body odor you would expect at other gyms. In my year here thus far, I have become convinced that Ali is a jiu jitsu genius. What he teaches works, and works extremely well. I've lost count of the number of times where I've seen or read about a technique, tried it out, and had trouble. Then, a few weeks later, Ali would teach his way of doing it, a minor variation or tweak here and there, and it would work so much better. Seriously though, with a 30 day free trial, there's nothing to lose. I've trained with various other coaches before, but nowhere have I enjoyed training as much as I have at A-Team.
Me and my family were searching along time for a BJJ school that teaches the true art of Jiu-Jitsu (which means gentle art); In addition, it was very important for me to find a teacher that had a genuine heart for the students, rather than one that seeks large enrollment and financial gain. Upon personally experiencing time at Ateam and seeing Master Ali training the kids, i could see he had a golden heart for each of his students. Ateam Jiu Jitsu fit this motto that i believe in: "Champions are made not Born." At Ateam Master Ali, coach CJ and coach Dave not only teaches high level jiu-jitsu, but are making kids into champions on the mat and in life.
I highly highly highly recommend training with Master Ali at A-Team in Westminster, CA. His location is convenient, seconds off the 405 freeway in North Orange County and his adults program is every bit as awesome as his no. 1 ranking kids program. If you can take a private lesson, ask him about his guillotine game!!!
