Great place to train! Chill basement atmosphere with a lounge area and lots of mat space. With the instructors being so connected directly to Eddie Bravo, you are receiving the most elite level knowledge of nogi available today.

The atmosphere is welcoming and the quality of instruction is top notch, to anyone with any real interest in brazillian jiu jitsu or self defense this is an amazing place to go REGARDLESS of experience; This is a place I can guarantee one thousand times out of one thousand as a good environment for people young and old; strong and weak, and most especially driven. If you want anything other then the highest quality of training alongside the south bay, this gym is not for you.

One of, if not the best place to train wrestling and brazilian jiu jitsu in the south bay. The instructors made me feel welcome and apart of their team first couple weeks into training. I'm thankful to learn and share the mats with the future of jiu jitsu.

Came all the way over to 10th planet South bay from Scotland, a group of 5 of us from 10th planet Glasgow. We had intended for our main gym to be 10p SD whilst we were in San diego, but 10th planet southbay ended up being our favorite spot without a doubt. All of the guys and gals here were fantastic sports and extremely welcoming. Big shout out to Pj and Dawn for being awesome hosts. Pj was in the midst of his own ADCC camp and made the time to make us feel welcome. Couldn't recommend the place enough. If im ever back in San Diego in my grappling career again, i'll be popping in. A must visit for any 10th planet grappler, or any grappler in general

To have high level athletes who can also coach and articulate their knowledge into digestible lessons for their students is rare. To have competitive students who are eager to learn and also view their fellow teammates with warmth and respect is rare. To be challenged and encouraged to grow both on the mats and in your personal life is rare. 10th Planet South Bay is all this and more.

The BEST jiujitsu gym in S.D. The coaches are top tier. The people here become your family. So many women to train with as well. The kids classes are also legit. Coaches are amazing.

No other place I'd rather be. I work 60 hours a week and I'm running on fumes most of the time but this is the highlight of my day. My wife and daughter also train here. I couldn't ask for better coaches.

From the first time taking a free class to actually signing up this great group of coaches and team have been nothing but welcoming and encouraging. Coming to this gym was an excellent choice and I do not regret signing up, the coaches here are really great and break it down as much as possible till you get it right, Highly recommended 10th planet.

When I first started my jiu jitsu journey, I was training at a small private gym with coach Dawna Gonzales. After completing her 6 week Women's self-defense class, she brought me over to 10th Planet South Bay. I met Pj Barch and started training with him and the team. I started off extremely unsure of myself and very afraid. As a woman, I feel like it can be very intimidating to join a combat sport. Pj makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable. It didn't take very long for me to get the hang of jiu jitsu and gain confidence. I have now been training for 2 years and have earned my blue belt. Not only have I learned a lot about sport, I have also learned a lot about myself as a person. Although Pj Barch is the head coach, you also get to work with other knowledgeable black belts. Dawna Gonzalez does amazing work with, and for women. Rachel Ranshau is very advanced and technical. There is something for everyone here. They also have kids classes if you have little ones. Whether you are looking to lose weight, gain confidence, grow as a person, or just get a good work out in...10th Planet South Bay in Chula Vista is the gym for you.

Ever since me, my daughter and husband have been training jiu-jitsu at 10p Southbay Chula Vista they have been family to us and we have meet really amazing people here. The kids coaches and adult coaches here are amazing and really put things in to detail to make sure that you understand the moves that are being taught for the day. They are family oriented and really focus on what you need help in. So if you have kids bring them, they start at age 5 and if you want to train yourself come join it's an amazing gym. And on Saturdays they have Masters 35+ at 8:30am - 9:30am, and women only self-defense class coach taught by Dawna at 9:30am - 10:30am and mixed levels at 10:30am - 11:30am. Classes Here at the Gym Mon - Fri 1st class 6am - 7:30am 2nd class 9am- 10:30am Kids class 4:30pm -5:30pm Fundamentals 5:30pm - 6:30pm Mixed levels 6:30pm - 8:30pm

I have been training no-gi juijitsu for about 1.5 years in the 10th Planet system in multiple gyms and thus far have really enjoyed my experience. Even though I have really enjoyed it something felt off. All the professors/coaches teach in the same manner. Techniques are shown then practiced, then live sparing happens. What feels off for me is that this style of training seems to be on opposite sides of the spectrum and does not address what's happening in the middle. So I have been researching this and found that scientists have developed a method called the ecological approach that addresses the most effective and efficient ways that humans learn movement. I was so disappointed that I have not experienced this type of training and the only gym I could find implementing this approach at first was in Maryland. Until..... I found out that 10P South Bay has a coach (Dave) that is implementing this type of teaching methodology in his classes. So 3-4 days a week I head to Chula Vista from Vista to train in the 6am class and I could not be more pleased. This class is a rare gem and hopefully one day it will be the standard for how juijitsu is taught. Until then go to 10P South Bay and hit up Dave's classes or head to Maryland.

Best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Self Defense in the world right here in the South Bay. World champion instructors in a super friendly top notch facility right in Downtown Chula Vista. So many class times with a kids program, women’s self defense, and a competition team means there’s a class and a time for everyone. 10/10!!!

PJ is at the forefront of modern Jiu Jitsu and coaches nearly every class! Super hands on, knows everyone’s names and holds multiple open mats a week for others to join. He’s the real deal! Great culture and talent in the gym with so much potential as it continues to rapidly grow. If you’re debating gyms this is a no brainer and 100% worth a commute if you aren’t close. Shoutout the rest of the staff too with great pointers and a second perspective to share alongside PJ. The accountability within the gym to get better every day is felt. Let’s go!

The BEST jiu jitsu place gym I’ve ever joined! It’s a great place for all levels / ages. I’ve improved so much by joining and the instructors are AMAZING. I absolutely love how caring the staff is and how proactive they are In helping their female students. My friends also bring their children and they love seeing how involved the staff is with the kids program. If I could give them a 10 star review I would. Highly recommend this place!

Yeah I could mention the big rolling space, cool area during summer, showers, close proximity to a lot of bars and restaurants and a great team but what I really like about this place is that they use quality toilet paper. My a** ain’t getting wrecked twice a day here with this 4-ply beaut of a bathroom detail.

PJ is one of the best bjj coaches in San Diego, I always learn some new detail when I take his classes and this new space is so nice! I travel pretty far to get my bjj in so I’m happy to have found a good gym in the neighborhood. If you’re in Chula Vista you should definitely check it out.

PJ Barch is a rare example of an accomplished athlete who also has great communication and a gift for teaching. I couldn't more highly recommend his Jiu-Jitsu instruction, and the environment he puts forth at 10th Planet South Bay.
