Best training with the best people! Be ready to work hard though!
I’ve stopped by this gym to train a few times when I’m in the area and I love it. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable in BJJ and the members are welcoming and friendly. If I was closer I would make this my home gym.
I have two and half years of training in this awesome gym. Great instructors and great community to train with. Started training as a means of losing weight and never stopped. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning BJJ regardless of your skill level.
10th Planet has been an extraordinary journey for me. The camaraderie among the members is unparalleled, and the gentlemen who guide us through the intricacies of this unique art form are not only skilled but also incredibly patient and welcoming. Their dedication has turned what was once foreign to me into a captivating and addictive new healthy lifestyle. I am grateful for the experience and the community that makes 10th Planet truly remarkable.
10th Planet Royal Oak is an awesome place to train. Professional and high level instruction in a clean and friendly environment! Everyone was awesome!
I've been coming here for over a year and I wouldn't want to train anywhere else. The environment and team are great, and I don't think I've ever had a coach as invested in their students growth as Peter. Whether you just want to get some exercise and learn a few things, or you want to work towards becoming a competitive athlete - start your journey at 10th Planet Royal Oak
I've known Peter for a few years now as i've been doing Jiu Jitsu for over 3 years. I watched Peter get his brown belt from Eddie Bravo and receive his black belt. He's one of the first few 10th Planet black belts in Michigan if that does not speak to his credentials. He is as legit of a BJJ black belt as you can get. With now being his student coming on 2 years I can assure you that there is no one else in the area that could give you as high quality instruction as Peter. Peter lays out the groundwork for high level Jiu Jitsu while also keeping things friendly, casual, and joking around with everyone to create a fun environment. I can say without a doubt being a member of the team within this Jiu Jitsu gym has helped me to change my life
After one year of going to 10th planet Royal Oak, I can say that whether you want a good work out or if you wanna get in it for the long run, this is the place to be at. I guarantee you’ll be hooked from day one. Always good vibes and good people to train with. The energy is always there, best place to be at after work!
I have tried a few different gyms and finally found 10th Planet Royal Oak! I have been going here for several months and it is by far the best gym I’ve been too. From day one I felt very welcomed (even as a beginner). Peter, Sara and Alec are the best coaches around! I have been taking some Jiu Jitsu classes and also the fundamental Muay Thai classes for the past few months and love it, I look forward to it every week! Everyone here is like family. Do yourself a favor and stop in!
The best jiu-jitsu gym in the area. Coach Peter is one of Michigan's best martial arts minds. In sharp contrast to many other jiu-jitsu schools, 10th Planet Royal Oak focuses on combative concepts and systems over random techniques. The jiu-jitsu ideal of control leading to submission is thoroughly embodied in the 10th Planet system that Coach Peter teaches. The effectiveness of the approach is evident from the extensive competition successes of 10th Planet Royal Oak students. A welcoming atmosphere, ample concern for safety, clean mats, and a positive attitude towards hard and focused work put this gym over the top. Can't recommend it highly enough, give it a try if you get a chance.
At 46yrs old with 0.00 grappling experience to say I was nervous to embark on the Jiu Jitsu journey is an understatement to say the least. After my 1st class in July I was absolutely hooked and have been religiously going 4-5 times a week. Peter Di is an absolute wizard on the mats and he has created a very positive and challenging culture in his gym. His instruction and knowledge far supersedes anything I had imagined. I highly suggest taking advantage of their free introductory week and beginning your own journey.
Been training at this gym and with Peter for the past couple years. The gym values safety while still heavily promoting pushing yourself physically and mentally. The people are friendly and always helping each other out. Peter genuinely wants to see his students improve and consistently goes above and beyond what is asked of him
Clean gym, friendly people. I walked in completely new to grappling 4 months ago, and was hooked after my first day. Felt no pressure to join and enjoyed my free first week. The management has been flexible and accommodating the entire time. Peter is an awesome instructor, he consistently takes the time to help develop the basics of not just Jui Jitsu, but grappling in general. If you are interested in the sport at all, this is the place to start! Highly Recommend!!
I've visited/trained at a few other gyms in the past and can honestly say that none come close to the quality of both the instruction and team culture of 10th Planet RO. Our coach, Peter (10th Planet Black Belt), does an excellent job of keeping a clean, safe, and team-oriented environment while also delivering a very effective and systematic approach to the sport of jiujitsu. He's very passionate about what he does and strives to make every student better in jiujitsu and in life. Definitely check this place out if you're interested in no-gi jiujitsu at all. Would give it more than 5 stars if I could.
I joined 10th Planet Royal Oak about a year ago after years of combat sports obsession. I held numerous reservations about attempting combat training myself, including my age (35), time (medical student), money (medical student, haha), and health (tales of injuries and infections). Eventually, my intrigue with jiu jitsu, especially 10th Planet culture, overrode my reservations and I dropped in to try a class. I was hooked after day one. I exaggerate not when I say my life enriched threefold since I signed up. Jiu jitsu is cerebral enough to stimulate your mind all day, physical enough to get or keep your body in shape, and social enough to expand your friend-circle no matter your age. Beyond these general reasons to try out this joint, let me also offer something specific: our instructor Peter ain’t no pot-bellied, gi-wearing, snake oil-selling charlatan. He’s a real cat who reps real jiu jitsu while talking jive in the process, thereby creating a fun, educational atmosphere where folks can be themselves and forge something even better. Drop in, y'all.
Best Jiu Jitsu gym you can find. Come in and be apart of the 10planetroyaloak family I started here over 3 years ago and never looked back best spot to be and peterdi is the best coach you could ask for
Very nice and friendly gym. I felt very welcomed and beyond that. Peter showed some really cool moves and he has a deep understanding of what he teaches. I would recommend this place for 10Planet lovers.
Peter is an amazing coach and is super welcoming! Good group of people to train with!
I've tried several gyms in the past on my journey to lose weight and get in shape. The first day I stepped into this gym I was welcomed with open arms. Being an older and heavier person I had my own self doubts but Peter and Sara encouraged me and worked with me to overcome those self doubts. No other gym took the time to help motivate me the way Peter and Sara have. Now two years later and 100 lbs lighter Im at a level of confidence I haven't been at in years. As a former wrestler who was now overweight and in his late 30s I struggled with confidence because of how out of shape I was. Peter constantly talked me up and never made me feel insignificant. Now I try to get to the gym as often as I can. Every day in the gym is a day I spend with family, not just people I train with. I never thought I'd make so many great friends the way I have here. Sara is an incredible CrossFit coach and knows her stuff. Peter is a genius on the mat and can guide you into becoming the best at your Juijitsu game, and nobody ever judges you here. Definitely worth coming in whether it's for CrossFit, Muay Thai, Juijitsu, or all three. You won't be disappointed.
10th Planet Jiu Jitsuu Royal Oak is a great gym to join and place to train. When you join you are welcomed to the community and the team. The team is very diversified and full of awesome men and women. It's a very clean environment and safe for beginners with no experience (like me). Personally, I wrestled in highschool and I was looking for an avenue to continue grappling, learn new styles and methods while maintaining a healthier lifestyle, lose weight, maintain my new weight and improve my cardio. I'm very grateful to Peter for offering this oppurtunity and coaching. Everyone is very supportive, the entire team. I highly recommend that you come join us and help make us better. If jiu jitsu doesn't interest you come check out the fitness programming at the same location. Sara is a great coach and motivator. Clawson fit will offer a safe place to exercise and make new friends. Peter and Sara are fantastic coaches and mentors. Come try it out for yourself and make your own conclusions. I believe you will be happy that you did.
