I felt very welcomed at this gym, the instructors are great and very knowledgeable. On top of that, the pricing is very competitive. I would recommend anyone trying to get into jujitsu to at least go to one trial class, you will not regret it!
Best gym in OC, arguably the world. Not just because the price is unbeatable for unlimited classes (look around and lmk if you find a better price for no gi), but because of the people and community that creates the environment.
A lot of the students there are very high level, but also super humble. Most of the higher level belts are eager to help and Coach Ron truly fosters a culture of camaraderie & respect.
10/10 would recommend. Do yourself a favor and at the very least just do your free class. You won't regret it.
I was visiting Huntington Beach for a Celebration of Life for a Good Family member that left us recently, I train Gi and NO-Gi Jiu-Jitsu a couple of times a week when I travel for work or family. I do my best to stay consistent. The Owner Ron Turner, and his Head Coach Ryan, are incredible at making Ronin Jiu-Jitsu Nerds like me Welcome. Lucky for me we were going over Choi Bar Entries, so I wasn't drowning in Jiu-Jitsu systems i don't understand or are trying to learn on the fly. Ryan and his team were extremely kind and patient with me, especially when I told them I was just coming off knee surgery, the Rolls where very hard, and I appreciate that. I definitely got better in my short time with this team, when I'm back in town, I'll definitely be dropping in, thank you 10P and Ron who let me train with the team.
10th planet Jiu Jitsu has been one of the greatest sport + community experiences I have had. I learn under Coach Wes, and he is THE MAN! I have grown so much under his teaching as a jujitsu practitioner over the past 8 months thanks to him. His attention to detail, working with you step by step through each move, and highly encouraging attitude has really made all the difference. I highly recommend you make it to his classes!!! On top of the coaching Ive received from Wes, I've gotten to meet and roll with people from all walks of life and build friendships I wouldn't have if it wasn't for joining 10th Planet Costa Mesa. The environment here is highly supportive, highly encouraging, and competitive, to say the least.
Also, as far as cleanliness goes, this gym is on top of making sure the mats are clean. I personally see the mats cleaned properly at the end of practice. So, if you want to have a great time and learn/roll with high-level people and not worry about getting an infection then this is your spot!
been training martial arts since i was 6. I know what it takes to be a mentor coach and real friend. Dirty Ron Turner is one of the few that actually care about you not just the money. Give him a try and tell him renzo sent you. Wont regret it !!

Dropped in while coming back home for a week. I own and run a gym in the Washington DC area and had a great experience here. Everyone was super welcoming, instruction was top notch, and the training was great. Would highly recommend checking out. Art and the team were awesome.

The Orange County 10th planet teams are all amazing, had the pleasure of taking a class at Fullerton which was great, I most attend the Sunday open mats at Costa Mesa and can’t say enough great things, first off sundays are free and open for any one from any gym, the coaches that run this place don’t have to do it but it’s so great to see them giving back to the community! Thank you for this!
I have trained here as a member for two years and have been coming to their open mats for about six. The coaches are all fantastic experts! As a female it's so important to feel safe and welcome where you train and they are great for that as well. I joined here about a month after having my baby and Ron made sure I was really ready to come back before signing me up. They care about people alot and small things like that really show that they care that their members are happy and want to be there.
The kids program has games, techniques, wrestling circle, and rolling. It is so much fun to watch them learn and grow. Some compete, many do not. Usually there are several assistants in the room in addition to the lead coach to help give them more attention. You aren't going to find that kind of attention in any other activities. I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to train here!
Lots of parking, month to month memberships (without all the sketch so many gyms do to trap you, if it's not for you that's totally fine), mopped after every class, community welcoming vibes!
This is a long overdue review. I've trained at many gyms over the last 10 years and this place is the best for many reasons.
1) great culture, all staff, and members make everyone feel welcomed, no egos.
2) Absolutely no pressure to join or buy any of their merchandise. Lots of gyms always sell you hard on membership and require you to buy their gear. I buy their gear because I love their branding and designs, something I'd wear outside of the gym.
3) They are month to month with no cancellation or additional fees. Don't like it, all good, they don't make it impossible to cancel. You can also temporarily pause your membership
4) They have 2 restrooms, air-conditioned facilities with a real ac, not a fan, and a massive parking lot
5)Tons of class options, daytime, evening, and weekends
6)4 gyms to party in, pay for one, attend any of the 4 locations
7) They have a phenomenal kids program for ages ranging from 5-13. The head coach, Ryan knows how to keep the kids engaged and has a balance of fun and discipline. Most programs are either too relaxed where the kids are wild and interrupt other kids or too disciplined where kids don't enjoy themselves. I've taken my kid to three other wrestling/jiu-jitsu programs and this one is the best. Actually, after a bad experience at another location, my kid didn't want to train anymore and I had to bribe him to try a class here. 9 months later, he's already willingly competed in two tournaments and enrolled in another
There is tons more to say, but you just have to drop in and see for yourself.
World Class Kids Jiu Jitsu Program
Coach Ruben Rivera is a charismatic high level BJJ Black Belt, who has made a tremendous improvement in my Son Christian and Daughter Leila's grappling. My kids trained at another overrated Orange County MMA gym for two years before coming to 10th Planet Costa Mesa. Ruben has brought the best out of my kids and their passion for the sport of Jiu Jistu is at an all time high. Under Ruben my kids have competed in multiple open tournament and won because of the 10th Planet system and his superior coaching. After watching over a dozen average coaches teach my children MMA and Jiu Jitsu, I've realized there are very few exceptional coaches, especially those that have the patience to bring out the best in kids, and Ruben Rivera is one of those rare exceptional coaches that brings out the best in mine. I have seen children whose parents have had challenges with focus and behavior, take to coach Ruben and make drastic improvement in their ability to learn and focus. Head Coach Ron Turner has build a great family environment. My wife Kristen in the last year has taken up a love of the sport under the 10th Planet banner. As a woman she now feels empowered and supported by the great community of women who train at 10th Planet (AKA "The Lady Monsters"). The facility is very welcoming, clean and modern with new mats and decor. The coaches are very down to Earth and supportive. The kids program is always well supervised with multiple coaches like Shawn, Nabil, and Nayra, who provide a great learning environment. If you want to see your children build a greater sense of self confidence, humility and respect for others, bring them to 10th Planet Costa Mesa! Its made a world of difference for my family.

It's been 2.5 years now that I've been training with the 10th Planet Monstersquad, and I'm hooked. With such a welcoming and awesome group of people, this place is like a family. The coaches are super dedicated and it shows in the love they give to their students and business. The monsterquad has room for every level of Jiu Jitsu, from a first time beginner to high level competitive jiu jitsu, there is something for everyone.
If your in the area and thinking of joining a jiu jitsu school, I highly recommend checking out the 10th Planet Monstersquad!
Visited this gym while traveling for work. Of all the schools I have trained at the instruction here has been the best. You will learn more than the "move of the day". The head coach does a great job explaining the concepts of grappling and how they are applied in a particular technique. If you are looking for a school this place is a must visit.
The 10th Planet System is a work of art and it's Coaches are superb. Professor Ruben Rivera is a blackbelt who understands that everyone has different needs because everyone's body is different. He goes into great detail when explaining a technique, always takes questions and makes you feel welcome. Mr. Matt Salinas and Mr. Brandon Tran are also excellent at what they do, from fitness to competition classes, they are always ready to help you level up your game. Try out a free class here and you'll be hooked. They are also moving location soon and I'm very excited to see the new digs. The sooner you start, the sooner you can get better! #MonsterSquad ☝👌🌎
I've trained at a bunch of different academies over the years and 10th Planet CM has been my favorite. The instruction is top notch, and there is a sense of community and openness here that is so hard to find. You'll feel like you're at your home away from home after your first class. There are always a range of people training from those with only a few weeks to those with a few decades, so no matter what your skill level you will always improve in a friendly environment.
My 2 kids (ages 5 and 6) and I both train here and we love it. The instructors have great attention to detail and are patient with the kids, yet hold them accountable. They correct small nuances that make big differences in their game. Everyone is always so nice here, too, and made us all feel welcome, and they continue to as we grow.
Visiting from Arcata CA. As a newer no gi practitioner with a bit of experience with the gi.. I've found the 10th planet monster squad costa mesa to be super inviting, chill and incredibly skilled. I found all body types and skill levels to train with, and found that everyone was a pleasure to work with, even the monsters! This will be my new huntington beach home, since I will be here maybe once or twice a year to visit family. 10/10
The energy here is amazing! Great instructors, friendly, professional staff and members. I have never taken Jui Juitsu before so my first day was a bit confusing but everyone was willing to help me learn the basics which was so cool. I joined after my first day and I challenge you to come out and get a feel for yourself. Amazing experience, no huge egos here...This place totally Rocks!
Visiting this place made me remember that Jiu Jitsu was once fun for me. Great atmosphere, great instruction, killers on the mats.. I'm so happy the owners of 10PCM opened up a gym in Las Vegas.
Family like atmosphere, my 6 year old son and I signed up a few weeks back and we love it. There is no shortage of good jj guys in this gym. Coaches are great. Theres nothing like rolling. 10th planet soldiers
I have been training here for almost a year now, off and on. This place is great. I started with very little knowledge of Jiu Jitsu. Coach Halstead, Coach Ron, and the rest of the staff welcome you with open arms whether you are a beginner or a professional fighter. Since I've been training at 10th Planet, I've learned a lot and still have much more to learn.
Great environment for all...family, beginner...or whatever level you're at, this is the place to go to. Everyone there treats you with respect and they have great instructors. My kids LOVE the kids program at 10th Planet. A definite place to check out if you're interested in jujitsu. #10P4L
Best open mat I have ever been to and are part of Cyborgs Fight sports. We were visiting from Florida and the people were so welcoming. They welcome people from other local schools so you get a great mix of rolls. Top notch environment for kids and adults.
